Hi, I'm Kristen and I create interior spaces for you that are functional and beautiful and exactly what you have in mind.
Interior Design has always been part of my life. Along the way to opening my own business, I was part of the visual merchandise and management teams of several major retail brands, wrote for a popular online lifestyle magazine, created my own design blog, went to design school, worked for an international furniture retailer, staged homes for a real estate company, designed hundreds of different types of spaces, and had a full-home project published in Housetrends magazine.
Interior Design Process
After you contact me, I'll schedule a quick call so we can talk a little bit about your project. Once we both agree we are on the same page about the scope of the project, cost, timeline, etc., then I'll set up an appointment to come meet you and see your space in person. Our meeting will be charged to you on a flat-fee basis (the amount will have been discussed in our call) and these meetings typically run approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. At this meeting, we will get to know each other a little better and I will have the opportunity to walk through your space. We can discuss the details of what you need help with and I can provide some "initial impressions" advice. The more information you can provide me at this meeting the better so that I can gather enough information for the next step in the process. We'll also exchange contact details in case I have more questions while I'm working on your proposal.
Proposal and Discussion
The type of project, scale, budget, etc. will determine what type of proposal I'll prepare specifically for you. In this document, I will list out the details we discussed in our initial meeting, including what services I will be providing, how my rates will be calculated (there are several options for how I charge, depending on the project), and an approximate timeline. We'll be discussing the proposal in person, so this is also a great opportunity for us to meet again, get to know each other more, and get excited about working together! At this meeting we'll also set up our next appointment.
Contract and Payment Schedule
At this point we will walk through a simple contract and payment schedule so that we all familiar with the milestones of the project.
This step is where all the fun is. We'll collaborate together to create the space you always wanted!
Interior design isn't just about helping you pick a new paint color and add new items to the space, it also involves styling the space for function and beauty. This step is key to the overall design and is a way to make the space yours by integrating family photos, vacation memorabilia, and items you already own that make you smile.
Professional Photos and Review
Once you space is completely done we'll talk about scheduling for professional photos (I'll provide you with before and afters — always fun to share!) and how you can leave me a review on Houzz so that new clients can find me to help them with their spaces.
The very last step in the overall design project process is for you to recommend me to your family and friends — I'm sure they would appreciate it!
